How to make dinner after you've been to the therapist

  1. Take the leftover spaghetti from two or three days ago out of the fridge. Do NOT take it our of the Pyrex container you stored it in, but DO take the lid off
  2. Mix in some jarred sun dried tomatoes and artichoke hearts
  3. Think it looks too dry and add a small jar of pasta sauce
  4. Grate on an assload of soy cheese (but leave a little because this stuff is expensive and you don't want to use a WHOLE block on one dinner)
  5. turn on the oven
  6. Do NOT notice what temperature you set it at
  7. throw the Pyrex container in the oven and run down to the freezer for a baguette that should have been more properly wrapped
  8. notice that the oven is at 325
  9. turn it up
  10. look anxiously at the clock and wonder when DH is going to be home so you can have wine
(because drinking alone is a bad sign)
  11. Give up and get online so you can post about the fascinating life you live
  12. hope dinner doesn't burn
  13. hope you remember to put the bread in
  14. Take the red wine out of the fridge (because DH put it there when he had a cold and was too sick to drink and it was hot in the house)
  15. Wonder why the hell you decided on a dinner that involves the oven which will raise the temperature in your house from 77 to 80 degrees.

Sounds good. Particularly the wine.

Is an assload the same as a buttload? Just wondering about the US to Canada conversion.

Can I substitute new spaghetti for the leftover as I would have had to cooked something 3 days ago to have leftovers. I need recipes that require no prep or thought so that I can still make them at 5 pm when I remember that my family likes to eat supper.

If you don't have leftover spaghetti and wine, you should probably just get take out. Because you will probably just overcook the pasta, as the blogging about your fascinating life is imperative to the success of this meal. You may however substitute an unopened bottle of wine. Unless you are me and regularly break the cork in half trying to get it open.

An assload is a precise term: it is enough to completely obscure the surface of whatever you are cooking, so that no one can see that it's days old leftovers.
